DiD Impact

At Dialogue in the Dark we measure profit in more than just dollar signs and cents.  We also take into account the social benefit.  Whether the benefit is the creation of jobs for the visually impaired, or the knowledge imparted to participants, the social benefit created holds equal weight with the dollars and cents.

Over 6 million visitors have visited the exhibition worldwide.

· 100% of our visitors remember the Dialogue in the Dark experience
when questioned five years later, amazingly, 25% remember their guides name five years later
· 90% report feeling sensitized to the world of the blind
· 52% have recommended Dialogue in the Dark to friends and families
· 34% want to visit the exhibition a second time

Impact on the blind
Dialogue in the Dark creates jobs for the visually impaired, many of whom are chronically and under employed. Since 1988, over 6000 blind and partially sighted people worldwide have earned income and recognition through their work with Dialogue in the Dark. The job gives them confidence and strengthens their working skills, proving themselves as constructive members of the society, instead of aid-recipients. Disabled people have also acquired jobs from other employers, who have visited a Dialogue in the Dark exhibition and learned to recognize the caliber of visually impaired people.
